Oxy-morons

Great Movie
i found this movie on accident and watched it out of bordem turned out to be a great flick.Dont judge the movie by its cover deffinatly worth watching.

Oxymorons DVD
I ordered this movie from Amazon, glad to find it and the price was the best I could find. It came in 2 days! Great movie about oxycontin pill addiction and what that leads to. It's like an updated version of " Drugstore Cowboy", same idea. I really liked it a lot, awesome movie! I was waiting for it to come out on dvd for a long time and now finally have it. Thank you Amazon.

Gritty, grimy reality @ it's darkest
This movie is a must see, especially for those that have had a taste or know someone who's lived this lifestyle or along these lines. If I had the $$$ I'd order dozens of these to send to some of the peoples I came up with in my hometown, the monsters I shared nightmares with. I'm thankful the Lord's redeemed me and that I see passed those darker years of my life. I watched this for the first time last week and intend to watch again this coming week, remarkable movie. Based off a true story!?!! Speechless...Enjoy!
The actors, writer, and director did a magnificent job in portraying the reality of life's ills.

The Yellow Cab Man

Skelton Does it Again
Red Skelton gives a rib tickling performance in "The Yellow Cab Man". Skelton plays an accident prone inventor with hilarious results. He has invented a safety glass that will revolutionalize the car industry. He takes the job as a cab driver to prove how safe his Elastiglass really is. Unbeknownst to Skelton, there are other people who want to steal the formula for this fantastic invention for themselves, which results in many funny scenes; such as a truth serum sequence that sends Red back to his childhood and culminating in a rip roaring chase scene inside a Home Show exposition, which centers around a revolting house. So grab the kiddies, popcorn, cola and gather around the t.v. for approx. a hour and a half of side splitting fun!

Edited for Television
Very disappointed in this tape. This tape contains a copy of the movie that was apparently edited for television. I say that becuase I noticed that there were several scenes cut from the movie. The movie on this tape doesn't flow correctly and there are references in the movie to scenes that the viewer never sees.

I wouldn't recommend the purchase of this tape.

Red drives the Yellow Cab...one of his best!
After the success of "A Southern Yankee", it was just a no-brainer to set up another collaboration between star Red Skelton and comedy legend Buster Keaton (the latter working as a gagman at MGM). They bore some delicious fruit with "The Yellow Cab Man" (1950). Here, Red plays a goof who invents some wacky but effective "safety" devices, the latest of which is "Elastiglass", an unbreakable glass material. To help promote his inventions, he agrees to drive a Yellow Cab for awhile, resulting in a new career that's far from perfect. This was yet another comedy that's practically Red from start to finish. From the opening credits of a bandaged Red in the hospital (the cast is cleverly displayed ON a cast..get it?) to a wild climax on a model home on a turntable spinning out of control, it's one inspired comic moment after another. In between are some memorable bits: Red's first day driving the cab, which disasterously & hilariously piles one laugh on top of another; and a flashback in...

Hanumanasana Flow

Awesome Class
This is a great class that opens up your quads and hamstrings so you can get into your deepest splits. I'm a runner and this class worked wonders for my hips.

Just an amazing class!
I love this class, and have started doing it every week. I have quite tight hamstrings and quads, and more than any other class, this one opens them up. Though I am still several inches from achieving hanumanasana, I don t stress about it at all because of Jackie s excellent instructing. I love Jackie s classes. They are the perfect balance between strength, flexibility, heat and relaxation.

I can do the splits!
Moving into this particular asana can be very intimidating for a student. And while I have been a practitioner of yoga for 7 years now- I haven't been in too many yoga classes that lead the student into this posture. Jackie's guidance into hanumanasana is so fluid that you reach the apex pose with such grace and mindfulness that you can't even believe it when you're there! This class has been so much fun for me- challenging myself with compassion and ease. Highly recommended!

Talk to Me: a documentary film about children with Autism

Inside View of Autism
I was giving a workshop on autism for special education teachers, and knew I needed something visual and more personal than just me lecturing. This video was just right. The children provided excellent examples of the concepts I was discussing. I appreciated that their parents spoke about the experience of having a child with autism, and we got to see some the repetitive behavior, difficulty adjusting the changes in routine and lack of direct interaction that many children on the spectrum exhibit. It really brought the workshop alive, and we found ourselves referring to the children in the video during the rest of the session. It was an excellent brief, non-technical introduction that raised questions and encouraged compassion.

Rango

Brilliant in every sense of the word
Director Gore Verbinski has put together quite the filmography over the years. His first feature film was the family comedy Mousehunt, which he followed up with the R-rated action comedy The Mexican. He also jumped on the successful remake bandwagon before the trend really took off with The Ring. It was the Pirates of the Caribbean films that teamed the director with the hottest actor in Hollywood today; Johnny Depp. Perhaps it's because those films made over a billion dollars at the box office or because they just had fun working together or a little bit of both that Depp was chosen to voice a talking chameleon in Verbinski's bizarre yet spectacular animated adventure known as Rango.

Rango isn't your average animated film. That fact will become abundantly clear during Rango's opening monologue amongst his "friends." The film is actually more adult than any of the trailers let on. Within the first ten minutes of the film, Rango has a rather lengthy conversation with some...

Great animation, but really more for film buffs and lovers of animation than for kids
Gore Verbinski's animated feature Rango, with voices by Johnny Depp, Ned Beatty and a host of other talented actors, is a hard film to review, mainly because its real target audience is not the one it's being marketed towards. Let me just flat out say it: this really isn't a kids' animated movie. Not because there's anything in it that is not suitable for kids - there isn't - but because 95 percent of what really makes it worth seeing is going to go right over most kids' heads.

On the surface, the plot is fairly straightforward, at least in the set-up. A terrarium-housed pet chameleon lizard (it's significant after the fact that you never know his real name) ends up stranded in the desert where he is directed to a small town that is on the verge of extinction because of a mysterious water shortage. In his efforts to blend in (he _is_ a chamelon after all), he adopts the name Rango and in quick order suddenly finds himself appointed sheriff and given the mission of finding...

Not for kids - and I'm fine with that
I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to see, but I figured with Verbinski and Depp involved it couldn't be too bad. Boy, did I underestimate them! This movie was hysterical from the opening moments (Mariachi owls, anyone?). I agree with all the reviewers who said it wasn't a kids' film - too dark, and the amount of references and in-jokes lifted it way out of the Saturday morning/Disney category into the realm of inspired parody, but without losing a certain sweetness. The animation and production were outstanding as well, and I'm hoping the boys team up with ILM again soon!

The Groove Tube

The Groove Tube is not Saturday Night Live but...
Gross, outdated, crude, disgusting, a little drawn out in spots, and one of the funniest films ever! Mostly carried by Ken Shapiro & Richard Belzer, the film blasts away typical TV programming in rapid funny fashion. From the hilarious 2001 opening spoof to the Koko the clown sketch, the dealers (which hangs on too long after the great movie theatre scene), the News, the olympics, and safety sam, it's pure fun. One other recurring performer is Chevy Chase in the Geritan commercial, one of the highpoints of the film, as well as the fingers, and a quirky rendition of Four Leaf Clover. It's no Academy Award winner, and it isn't as clever or classy as SNL, but it's good for gross-out humor lovers. It's a classic that has been followed by, or in some cases imitated by Tunnelvision, Kentucky Fried Movie and Amazon Women On The Moon. Check it out!

When The Groove Tube hits, it is a riot.
I first saw this movie about five years ago with a friend who had just had surgery. She nearly busted her stitches out. You will not laugh harder than when this movie hits its target. There are some sketches that miss their target, but overall, it is really funny, and best of all there are several different levels of humor, if you like slapstick, there is plenty here. If you are more intellectual, and like irony, this movie has that, too. I just bought it and it is even better now that I am a little older and get some of the references. Check out "Brown 25," "The Dealers," and "Koko the Clown." These three, especially should have you near tears.

Histarically twisted
This movie is wrong in every aspected of the word. This Shapiro masterpiece summarizes the 70's in a nut shell. From Beggining to end it is parody genius at its best. "Move on up" by Curtis Mayfield is a perfect song for this movie. From the first scetch about the hitchhiker, the Koko show, the Dealers, Kramp TV kitchen, "Safty Sam" vanareal disease awareness (the men might want to leave the room during this scene), and the evening news. Not to mention the commercial parodies and plain 70's commentary. This movie is one to be enjoy in every household and enjoyed many times over and over again. Ever time i have seen this movie it keeps getting better and better revealing its underling humor. This guy Ken Shapiro is probably in a cave or jail or his own private island, maybe a combination of each. This is comedy at its best.

Lone Wolf Mcquade [Blu-ray]

Brilliant by Norris standards
While Chuck Norris has certainly appeared in some regrettable films during his lengthy career (can you say "The Hitman"?), I must say that "Lone Wolf McQuade" is one mightily entertaining movie. It perfectly plays to Norris's strengths, letting him to a little talking and a lot of butt-kicking as J.J. McQuade, a monosyllabic rebel who's earned legendary status as a Texas Ranger. McQuade delivers plenty of steely glares along with punches, kicks, and bullets, and has little respect for proper procedure, but he always get his man, as exemplified by an implausible opening scene in which he takes out about a dozen Mexican border criminals by himself. Yes, his character may be a cliche and a stereotype, but Norris plays him with admirable conviction, which is really all you can ask from him.

Perhaps more importantly, Norris actually gets a suitable foil in the form of "Kung Fu" legend David Carradine. Carradine fills the villain role very well as Rawley Wilkes (cool name), a...

"Get me a beer, kid."
SOME SPOILERS INCLUDED

In what ranks as his finest starring vehicle ever, Chuck Norris plays Texas Ranger J.J. McQuade, the "Lone Wolf" of the title. This A- movie is a cinematic monument to macho men, albeit with it's tongue firmly jammed into it's cheek. Broadly sampling Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Westerns and Sam Peckinpah's slow motion mass destruction epics, LONE WOLF McQUADE established Chuck Norris as a scion of the Clenched Jaw School of Acting personified by Kirk Douglas, James Coburn, Lee Marvin, and the early Clint Eastwood.

In the first five minutes of the film we are treated to a large scale automatic weapons shootout between a gang of modern-day Mexican horse theives on one side, and McQuade on the other. This entree sets the movie's tone of violent but cartoonish excess leavened with snarly comedy.

Despite McQuade's record of making more felony arrests than any other Ranger, the Establishment (personified in a fat, balding, self-righteous...

I thought it would never happen...
A good film... a GOOD film with Chuck Norris. It's completly epic and God bless the Kung Fu guy for being in it, it's a duel that was made in B-grade heaven. There's so much juicy material in this; a baptism of beer, a midget in a wheelchair, killer Ennio Morricone wannabe soundtrack... oh baby... This movie is an ultimate date classic. Must see on every level.

Finding Mr. Destiny (or Finding Kim Jong-wook)

Quick Hit of Romantic Comedy
This was a great film to watch if you are looking for an uplifting love story. It is about a girl who can't seem to get over her first love, and the man who is hired to help her. Of course, many hijinks follow. Although it is a little zany (and the inevitable rush to the airport scene), the storyline and portrayals hit a soft spot for anyone who has ever been in love and can't seem to forget. The realistic acting by both lended the film charm and a small bit of angst, but overall it was a sweet little story. Gong Yoo (First Shop Coffee Prince, Big) is an amazing actor, and always lends his characters depth. Lim Soo-Jong also gifts us with a credible female lead. I would recommend this to anyone that is a fan of romantic comedy KDramas, or even just romantic comedies in general.

Amazing movie
Amazing movie the story is so simple and lovely that you can't stop watching! This Korean movies are changing hearts a good combination of comedy and drama loved !

Hidden Rage

A great film with a great message!
I saw this film in the theater. It's a powerful, well made movie with an important message about bullying and how it can lead to drastic violence in schools. It should serve as a wake-up call to those who see the early warning signs and choose to do nothing, then wring their hands after it's too late to help. The direction and cinematography is great and the performances compelling. Students, parents and teachers should all take a look at Hidden Rage.

Awesome film!
I attended a private screening of this film and let me tell you- this is one of the best indie christian films I've ever seen in my life. Great message; don't miss out on it. Highly recommend!

Well Done Indie Film!
There are several reason why one would enjoy this film. 1) if you have children, you want them to watch to see what happens if you don't talk to someone about bullying or depression. 2) You love watching independent films which may lack a little in production quality but have solid story telling scripts. 3) You are supporting filmmaking at its core not the big budget production houses.

I had the privilege of seeing Hidden Rage in the theater and meeting the actors. You will enjoy the trip it takes you on through a high school loaded with much of what kids deal with nowadays. You will follow the lead character as he makes choices that are riddled with consequences. I thoroughly enjoyed the film. It's a great buy.

Smithsonian Channel: MLK - The Assassination Tapes

MLK
A+ revieved as described. An excellent resource for Afro-American history and of our nation. Well worth the wait.enjoyed it very much. a keeper.

Misleading Title...
Pros:Colour film of events surrounding the assassination with very good picture quality considering age.

Cons:The title of this dvd is misleading,it should refer to events surrounding the assassination.A very short
section given to the actual murder by forces unknown.46 minutes long overall, should be double that.

Summary:This dvd is suitable for 12 year olds,as a starter on the subject. If you want to go straight for the
main meal then watch Evidence of Revision which by comparison is for adults only.

Excellent Facts-Only Accounting of MLK's Assassination
So much of what accounts for retrospective biographies today involves interview snippets of current celebrities, educators, or politicians reflecting back on the moments of yesteryear; thankfully, this presentation sidesteps that format directly and, instead, embraces elements of the time. In fact, much of the video and audio segments presented in MLK: THE ASSASSINATION TAPES have never (you read that right: NEVER) been presented outside of Memphis, where the fateful assassination took place.

Note to Hollywood: as a student of history, I really could care less what the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. meant to Whoopi Goldberg, Walter Cronkite, or even Soupy Sales, for that matter. When I'm looking to learn, I want to learn f-a-c-t-s, and this Smithsonian Channel presentation gets it right: it sticks to the facts - backs them up with a respectful documentary format - and lets the viewer l-e-a-r-n about what happened, not force some awful and unnecessary ideology...

The Great Gatsby

A successful attempt to honor Fitzgerald's masterpiece
While many of you may turn your nose at a movie version of perhaps the greatest American novel starring Mira Sorvino and Paul Rudd, I assure you the casting was wonderfully done. Sorvino fulfills the character of Daisy, somewhat ditzy, materialistic, and self-centered. And Paul Rudd has always been a wonderful actor (let's just pretend "Clueless" never happened). The rest of the cast is wonderful as well. As I mentioned in my review of the OTHER movie version of the Great Gatsby, I was disappointed that (among other things) there was no narrator. Nick DOES narrate this one. It is brilliantly accomplished as well, because he is only narrator at crucial moments where dialogue would otherwise be lost. This movie also includes the famous last words of the novel: "So we beat on, boats against the current, born ceaselessly into the past" which I feel is a crucial part to include in the movie. Scenes were also accomplished with more tact and finesse than the...

In the Footsteps of the Great Gatsby
I am a great fan of Toby Stephens, who consistently turns in splendid performances (even making the dour Mr. Rochester terribly appealing), but I believe that the actor has been miscast in the role of Jay Gatsby. I don't think that Stephens fits into the shoes of Gatsby as F. Scott Fitzgerald has conceived him--larger than life; a man of mystery, who, in the party scene, remains anonymous in the crowd of what Shakespeare would have called "gilded butterflies" and what Fitzgerald himself seems to portray as moths blustering too close to a guttering candle flame. The dreamlike quality of the novel (which, as I recall was evident in the David Merrick/Jack Clayton/Francis Ford Coppola version), is almost totally missing from this latest production.

Where Fitzgerald suggests, the director of this film states outright. in the novel, for example, Nick's memories of his first encounter with Daisy and Jordan--on a seemingly floating divan--are suffused with light drifting through...

Gatsby as Godfather
This wild shot at Fitzgerald's masterpiece sees it all as a sort of proto-Godfather saga, 60 years ahead of its time. Beautifully costumed and with a sharp and accurate period look, this British TV version is a very distanced interpretation (if you can call it an interpretation, rather than an abject misunderstanding) of Gatsby. The take is pure gangland style -- an element certainly in the book, but which hardly subsumes it all -- or ought to, anyway. The story is really about romantic extravagance and earnestness; that takes more than mere costuming and sets, but actors with a lot of heart. The men here have no appeal whatsoever; they're all thugs. Mira Sorvino's Daisy, however weird, is presented as some sort of heroine -- about as far from Fitzgerald's intent as you can get. The dialogue is all accurate, mind you, and the story line is not significantly altered. Simply, this total misunderstanding of Gatsby is an object lesson on how mere "textual faithfulness" is far from...

Code of Silence [Blu-ray]

Chuck Norris At His Best
This movie is Chuck Norris at his best. He plays the part of Eddie Cusack a Chicago cop who only wants to get the job done. He is up against two mob family's in the middle of a war, caused by drugs and family blood. While trying to save the life of one mob family's daughter he must also bring both familys to justice. Between car chases that will have you on the edge of your seat and trademark Norris fight scenes it is easy to see why i gave this film 5 stars.

Arguably, Chuck Norris' Best
Code of Silence offers an excellent synergy and balance often missing in action films--especially other Chuck Norris action films.

I agree with other reviewers that this film perhaps showcases Norris' finest acting. Yet he is very well cast as the lone, honest, resolute and uncompromising "good cop," Cusack, who confronts Columbian drug lords, the Mob and a dirty cop in his unit, all with equal aplomb--and comes out the winner in the end, even in the face of mounting, and nearly overwhelming, odds.

The fight scenes are well choreographed, too, with Norris delivering compact, effective and believable punches and kicks. He even takes a few himself, portraying a character capable of taking it as well as dishing it out.

For all the no-nonsense heroics, Norris manages to keep his tacit characterization very human and believable. In brief, Chuck Norris plays the quintessential Hero: committed to doing the right thing, and transcending himself in the...

Chucko kills even more baddies
He's mean, he's lean, and he's not about to do things by the book! Welcome to the world of the action star, that social loner who won't sit idly by when the scum of the earth prey on the human race. While the rest of us live our little lives playing by the rules like the dupes we are, these guys go out and make a difference. They actually like us despite our weaknesses, amazingly enough, and take care of us out of a sense of responsibility similar to what a lord used to feel for his peons. No matter what they do or whom they kill in the process their instincts never fail them. Even when their partner, significant other, child, or anyone else close to them dies horribly as a result of the threat the action star poses to the villains, they never swerve from their core principles. Their superiors recognize the action star's godlike powers and, while complaining publicly about their reckless behavior, put them right back out on the street to kill the bad guys. No investigative committee...

Midnight Son

NIce indy find.
I really enjoyed this movie, it is surprisingly well shot and paced, especially for an Indy. It has lots of atmosphere, and the director successfully creates an ever increasing sense of dread as the film unfolds. Also, the San Francisco area locations are well represented and add a nice sense of scale and intimacy to the proceedings. Some may find it less then action packed, but there is a lot of promise on display here that well cancels out whatever growing pains might be evident. Nice job.

On my top 10 list
This movie offers a fresh take on the genre. I found myself easily identifying with the main character, and the melancholic mood reminded me of Let The Right One In, another of my favorite vampire movies. The choice of the scriptwriters to focus on realism was a welcome change from the overly supernatural offerings that are so common. If you like vampire flicks that are thought provoking instead of kill-a-minute (although it has its share) get this movie.

Nicely done and better than expected
This is a very nicely done story of a man who discovers that he is turning into a vampire, while at the same time falling in love with a young woman who becomes increasingly worried about him. It was far better than expected, well acted and photographed.

Casa De Mi Padre (English Subtitled)

Viva Senor Ferrell!
I love telenovelas! That being said, Will Ferrell's Spanish in "My Father's House" is just bad enough that I can almost understand it, and trust me: I do NOT speak Spanish, so the captions are a treat.

This delightful spoof takes itself seriously every single second of its running time, which always adds to the fun. When the badly made fake white puma laughed sardonically, I bought every moment; and I loved the horseback riding on stuffed animals with a fan blowing their hair. Any time our three heroes are riding in the pickup, the same scene goes by the "windows" and you can practically see the wires holding up the bushes. Rough scene shifts and laughably poor continuity were fun all the way, e.g., our hero has a roll-your-own cigarette in his mouth, dribbling tobacco down his shirt front. In the next camera angle...no cigarette. Then from another view, there is that cigarette again!

We follow the estupido second son of a successful Mexican rancher. All the...

Some Laughs Provided You Get into the Right Frame of Mind
This deadpan spoof of Mexican "telenovelas" generates a fair quotient of laughs provided you tap into its goofy spirit. Will Ferrell stars in this all-Spanish language tale of a Mexican rancher who has to defend his father's land after his no-good brother (Diego Luna) shows up having owed a debt to a drug lord (Gael Garcia Bernal). Andrew Steele apparently wrote "Casa De Mi Padre" in English, but the film is a faithful Mexican soaper all the way through, and one's familiarity with the genre probably will dictate how much of the film you'll find funny. Though I'm certainly not a constant viewer of Univision, there are some inspired moments here along with several amusing songs penned by score composers Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau. Lionsgate's Blu-Ray of this barely-released comedy hits stores on the 17th with commentary with Ferrell, Steele and director Matt Piedmont on-hand; deleted scenes; commercials; a featurette; music video; and interview with the late Pedro Armendariz, Jr.,...

Pure comedy gold!!!!!
Nice parody of Westerns and Spanish telenovelas. Of course seeing a "gringo" play the lead in this comedy role with a largely Mexican cast was going to be fun, but Ferrell was absolutely perfect and the only guy that could have pulled it off very well.

It's true Will's career has been up and down with hits and misses, but he made a homerun here. I really enjoyed the movie.

With his poor broken Spanish and intentional bad acting guaranteed a laugh a minute. Just looking as his black perm and acting Mexican pretty much sold the movie. However, the barrage of over the top and bizarre sequences pretty much elevated the movie even more (and there are too many too list).

Probably my favorite involved the ones involving the "White cat" (pure gold).

The supporting cast is made of acclaimed Mexicans actors like Diego Luna, and the late Pedro Armendáriz Jr., and young up and coming actress Genesis Rodriguez who all gave great comedic...

His Girl Friday

Get the "Cary Grant on Film" version! D3K gets 0 stars!
This is one on my favorite movies of all time. The dialog is fast, funny and SMART. Plus, the gender treatment is fascinating, and not dated in the slightest. But . . . WARNING! Avoid the D3K DVD at all costs. It is truly the most horrendous digital transfer I have ever encountered. The picture is fuzzy and the dialogue almost incomprehensible. I have a five-year-old VHS copy of a TV broadcast of the movie that has much better sound/picture quality. To make things worse, the feature menus on the DVD are poorly designed, so that you cannot tell what you are selecting. And the makers had the audacity to have a whole menu with the credits for production of the DVD. I can't believe how mad I got trying to use this DVD.

Luckily my friend had another version I could compare (and eventually buy). The "His Girl Friday/Cary Grant on Film" version is superb in comparison: Dialog is crisp, picture sharp. It has a bonus documentary, Tony Curtis introduction and...

Thanks to the other amazon reviewers ...
for warning me about which version to get. I bought the columbia classics version which was digitally remastered. The picture and sound quality are both excellent. There are a couple of versions out there. Luckily, I read the reviews here and didn't get duped into buying the cheap poor quality dvd. The movie itself is my favorite comedy of all time next to Some Like It Hot. This was one of my favorite roles by Cary Grant. The chemistry with Rosalind Russell was very smooth and Ralph Bellamy played his part well as the stuffy insurance salesman...Remember GET THE COLUMBIA CLASSICS VERSION. It's an extra ten bucks but excellent quality.

Technical/quality issues
I'm sure you know that this classic movie is great. The DVD itself, on the other hand, is not what I've come to expect regarding restoration and remastering and whatnot. Bottom line is, the quality was as bad as the "bargain bin" VHS tapes of old movies that I quickly learned to avoid. In particular the sound was badly degraded, with a hiss that made it difficult to understand the dialog towards the beginning (that improved somewhat, but it was still bad). That's particularly annoying because I could clean it up better than that myself, with a trivial application of "Cool Edit" shareware! Clearly, this is a direct scan of poor quality original and zero work went into presenting it. The picture, too, is full of flickering spots and the whole thing has a soft out-of-focus look to it. If you just have to have this film in your collection, be resigned to the poor quality. If you're just looking, ask yourself if it's cheap enough for the lousy job.

Marilyn Manson, Marilyn - Fear Of A Satanic Planet (special Edition)

This Documentary Had Nothing Of Any Use About Marilyn Manson To Offer
This documentary had nothing new or interesting of use even to a newfound Manson fan. Really these guys who made the music doc should have gotten more interested in their subject or not even made it. To say this film is unauthorized or even thorough is letting it off the hook.

The sound and video was alright on the DVD even though the editing could've been better. The interludes to the different sections of the movie were okay at least. Video was a 4:3 ratio on the DVD and it wasn't region-coded. It was mixed okay in stereo sound so all of those parts are worth mentioning. However, interviews were directed poorly and without leading as much enthusiasm or controversy as there should have been. The soundtrack music by W!ck was awful and over the top. The producers never even glossed over the local scene that influenced the beginning of Marilyn Manson in Florida.

Interviews were directed poorly and without leading as much enthusiasm or controversy as there...

The movie title appears to be redundant. Clearly the Brits do not understand what to do during a major Zombie outbreak, perhaps due to the poor showing of "Zombie Diaries." A dirty bomb goes off and the film concentrates on the life and survival of Sarah (Ruth King). She passes out then comes to at a country infirmary. Here she encounters live people and zombies. They make numerous mistakes.

First, you need to secure the perimeter and eliminate the zombies inside. This is common sense stuff, but the Brits don't do it. Secondly if you are in a building that has zombies, don't ride the elevator as you don't know what is going to be outside the doors when they open. When you suspect the zombie infestation is caused by a blood borne pathogen, don't leave infected blood on your skin. Immediately wash it off and disinfect with a 10% Clorax solution. Also according to the Homeland Security handbook, the people who will actually be infected first are old people, children, and...

Surprisingly Very Good
This got terrible reviews everywhere. But I have very distinct likes being a Zombie film lover before it was cool I saw Night of the Living you know what in 1969 at the Orson Welles Cinema in Boston and have been a fan since. I hate most Zombie flicks and I hate running zombies, except the Dawn remake, which worked. This had slow really expertly directed Zombies. Good makeup for low budget and the acting which got panned as amateur worked very well. Sure there were head scratchers, like how did the main guy get off the roof when the girl was behind the door and then it closed. Look forget that. Forget that nobody but nobody but Romero presents a possible metaphysical origin, and the sudden biological origin is not as deeply terrifying to me, but this British Zombie flick is not a lame comedy, very few work except of course Sean of the Dead, but this is enjoyable if you expect little but love zombie flicks that are made not for money but because they love the genre..Thank the Lord...

Zombie Undead DVD
As a fan of zombie movies, which there are really great ones out there, especially by George Romero, I found this movie entertaining but not a "to die for" type movie. It had its good moments and slow moments, but in the end, a movie to just sit down, eat popcorn and enjoy. The zombies looked more like the ones in 28 Days Later, rather than ones shown in TV's Walking Dead. As I said before, put it on, sit down and watch another zombie movie out of the movie grinder.

The Tested

Mourn the Loss of A Child
This title says it all because she was tested beyond all of her motherly duties to the child that got taken to the ones she has left. Quite touching and on point to what happens out here in this crazed world we live in. This movie is a 9 on a scale of 1-10. Movie for all.

Gritty View of Sodid Lives
This is a powerful view of life in the inner city. It is not a pretty sight at all, but the film is gritty and realistic and pulls no punches. The acting is excellent, and the visuals are impressive. Not for all tastes, but worthwhile for those willing to spend time in a sordid universe.

Girls Gone Dead

A Great Throwback To '80s Boobs & Slasher Movies
I was fortunate to see the premiere of "Girls Gone Dead" in a theater in Florida earlier this year. It brought this 46-year-old back to his early teens when every week I went to a theater to see another gory horror movie with lots of topless girls being stalked by some maniacal killer (ahh, the joys of youth). Back then the production values were low, but the blood and boobs were always great. I'm happy to report that the blood and boobs in "Girls Gone Dead" are just as good as they were in those "classics," but the production values are so much better here. You'd never know this was a low-budget movie.

Even if you aren't familiar with some of the stars (pro wrestling legend Jerry "The King" Lawler, Howard Stern regulars Sal The Stockbroker and Beetlejuice, porn legend Ron Jeremy, 80s scream queen Linnea Quigley, etc), this is a movie that any fan of this genre will love. It's gory & scary, it's funny & silly, and it's got lots of mostly-naked women. I hope you like it as...

Great for what it is
I'm a huge fan of campy horror films and this film is no exception. While there's not much original here at all (it really is a blend of Club Dread and Piranha), its simply fun. Yes some of the acting is pretty bad (but its not so terrible that you're constantly rolling your eyes), but surprisingly, the production values are quite high. I've come to realize what separates most of my campy horror enjoyment is production values. I know a good movie should be enjoyable irrespective of production values, but I think they can have a significant impact on the film viewing experience. Here, they're great; its no Oscar-worthy production, but the production makes you feel like you're watching a substantial work...the key point being you don't find yourself constantly annoyed by bad lighting, bad camera work, bad audio, etc. As for the story, again, there's not much original going on, but its simply fun, and enjoy it for that. Keep in mind this isn't necessarily a film for the whole...

Dreams From My Real Father: A Story of Reds and Deception

This Movie Answers Questions and Fills in Blanks
Some will call this film conjecture, but for me it filled in a lot of blanks and made perfect sense. I have done a lot of reading on Barack Obama since before he was elected. (He was my senator from IL.) I always felt we were being asked to vote for a pig in a poke because really so little was known about him. He hid his grades and college records, and there were lies and changing stories about his friendships, connections, etc. If you are transparent, you don't have to lie, hide things, or change your story. Plus, unlike most candidates, there were no friends, classmates, or people in his past who came out to talk about him. Some who attended college when he did, said they didn't even know or recall him. Strange. And it didn't add up. His books told us what HE wanted us to know, but there again, it just didn't all square. So people like Jerome Corsi and others started investigating and asking questions. Then the facts really weren't squaring. The birth certificate...

Refreshing Alternative to the Obama Media House of Worship
To all of the critics of this film, I say, its a welcome breath of a President who has frozen all of his personal records, all of his academic records, and has more than flaunted multiple fake birth certificates. Regardless of your view of him, any thinking person can see he's a person hiding things, and then also hiding nothing. Its interesting to see how divided the reviews on this film are. They're almost half positive, half negative. The review status alone is almost a statement about this President in that he's no unifying voice. He's a divider and will continue to be. But he's also a myth maker. He has all of the myth believers deeply infatuated, and then those that see through the myth, deeply antagonized. Its like one half of the country took the blue pill, one the red. For those awake, I'm thankful for this film. And for me, as watcher, thinker, vs "believer," its not just about Obama, its about a long time deception being staged here in America through our White House and...

Children Underground (English Subtitled)

CHILLING...
CHILDREN UNDERGROUND follows a group of children living one subway station in Bucharest, Romania. These unwanted children exist as a result of Ceaucescus strict policy of outlaying abortions and birth control. Most grew up in orphanages while others lived with their families in dire poverty. They believe that their lives are better underground. This documentary films the daily exploits of these children along with the struggles they encounter to rehabilitate themselves. In order to attend school they must come clean and stop sniffing paint. In addition, they must have their identity papers, which are almost impossible for most of them. The most enduring parts of this film center on the interviews of the various family members of these children. Truly heartbreaking is the family of the small boy who doesnt understand why their youngest child wont return home. Watching this film will certainly make you appreciate the material things often taken for granted.

Take this journey... harrow your soul.
Having just seen the DVD of Children Underground I must say strongly that this film should be seen by everyone in the postmodern first world. I saw these things for myself in Romania during December of 2000. The apathy on the streets of Bucharest was deep and dark. My friends there kept shrugging their shoulders saying; "What can you do?" A documentary on the thousands of dogs on the streets would be a riveting nightmare in itself. While I was there they held an election. The choice of presidential candidates was reduced to a hard-line old school communist and a new school fascist. The Communist won. People shrugged. The train stations and subway entrances were indeed hives for feral children. I'm deeply grateful to Edet Belzberg for having the courage to descend into this manmade hell to bring these images back. It is my hope that the Romanians themselves find some of that same courage. I was moved that even at this stage of hell several of the kids held on to at least some idea of...

not for those with virginal eyes
I haven't written a review for a very, very long time; there simply hasn't been one worth writing. And after noting the lack of reviews, or seemingly brief reviews, for "Children Underground," I was compelled to do so. I now understand why the majority of reviews merely repeat what we're already told about the documentary, or simply state the pertinence of viewing this. I'm not going to tell you what you've already read here, for the basic plot summary and details cannot prepare you for the viewing experience. There's simply no way I could've been prepared for "Children Underground," despite my extensive collection of documentaries, many of which I thought to be deeply disturbing.

This is something you must see to believe; it takes us on an intimate journey to the darkest depths of a reality we've never even fathomed, let alone believed could exist. These children, this footage, the way in which it's filmed, the lack of narration, lack of any pre-text besides the initial...

I'm up to episode Four: so far, only one scream from Phyllis.

Now I'm happy. :/

Bikini Drive-In Special Uncut Director's Edition

One Of The Best Sex Comedies Ever!
Bikini Drive-In is definetly one of the best sex comedies ever made, right up there with Porky's and Hardbodies. It starts off pretty good, but it gets better as it goes along. Lots of nudity, sex scenes, screwball comedy, and spoof material. This is just a fun movie and well worth buying for fans of sexy comedies and exploitation films. Michelle Bauer's appearance alone makes it worth owning for her fans. In one scene, she receives an oil breast massage. Classic!

A homage to the lost B-Movie/Drive-In subculture in America
I received my copy earlier this week. I liked it more than I expected; unfortunately I had bought one of the pirated and cut versions off a used-DVD store and was expecting only to see the same movie plus the censored scenes. The movie is better than that.

First, "Bikini Drive-In" predates the collapse of the Skinemax genre around 2005 by about 10 years. You need to get your arms around that. As such, it is a glimpse into what the genre and the drive-in subculture used to be. In its era, the concept of the adult movie had a different meaning than today. A "movie" used to be a long-form storytelling device, and an "adult" comedy was a comedy that was spiced with some nudity. Some other examples are "TunnelVision," "The Groove Tube", and Fred's "Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers". Check the early movies out and you will see a vast difference from what passes for a "movie" today.

After the 2005 crash, an adult movie became a device for generating a group of nude scenes...

Uncut! Uncensored! Bikini Drive-In
I'm writing because a recent reviewer commented that this version is the same length as previously released edited versions. I own a recently purchased VHS version of this movie, and previously owned a heavily edited DVD version by Miracle Productions, which I traded in for credit on a Blu-Ray purchase at a major retailer. The Miracle Production DVD featured a large marquee on the DVD cover with the names of the major actresses. The VHS features a model reclining on a sports car on its cover. There is or was another DVD version with a similar cover. I have not seen that version.

Long story short, the new DVD version of Bikine Drive-In is substantially the same as the VHS version. Its run time is about 85 minutes, vice 86 minutes for the VHS. I believe the difference in the running time is probably based upon the length of the legal warnings at the beginning of the film. The new DVD version is unrated, but would probably receive an R, as would the VHS version...

The Road

Nightmarish
When you first strap in for "The Road," you're left with this sensation that everything is about to go wrong. In the meantime though, you get to soak in just how beautiful the Philippines really are. As the opening credits slowly roll on, there's is nothing but lush green scenery and the sound of wind chimes becoming louder and louder. It is literally the calm before the storm.

Luis (TJ Trinidad) is given a medal by the mayor for exceptional work on the police force despite his unorthodox ways. As his friends on the force discuss celebrating, Luis is distracted by a woman who desperately seeks closure on a twelve year old case that was never solved involving her two missing daughters. Elsewhere, Ella (Barbie Forteza) is dragged along with her cousin Janine (Lexi Fernandez) and her boyfriend Brian (Derick Monasterio) as they try to teach Janine how to drive. The abandoned road they practice on has its own horrendous past as it chooses to play mind games with the three teens...

Weird!
Three distinct but related stories are told in this unusual horror film. Three young people are lost on a deserted road. Two young women get assistance from a stranger when their car breaks down. A young boy is held captive by an abusive mother. The three parts of the film are all woven together to tell a story. This one can be pretty creepy and is not for everyone. This is another in a series of recent efforts of this genre that tell a scary story in a way that does not make it standard horror fare. If you appreciate a bizarre horror film with a unique way to tell a tale, you may like this one.

Great story and acting
This movie is classified as "HORROR" but it's not. This movie is a Drama Thriller movie. The movie goes a little bit slow but the the acting and the story will keep you watching.

Meiking

preety good
good movie for a cheap price good story line good scenes of action & sex better then some of the other movies i brouth

You do get what you pay for
To be honest this was filler on my last order. I wanted one more title, but didn't want to go over budget and Meiking fit the bill.

Alas that's about where the good news ends. Shipping took nearly a month, although it was in fine shape on arrival.

Now the story couldn't be simpler, nor could it have a more ambivalent impact to the hentai. Sex scenes for the most part are adequately animated, and most all revolve around the theme of the dude ''conquering'' or winning over the ladies to the benefit of his phallus. That means he convinces them all to sleep with him. Generally the scenes overall are pretty forgettable with two exceptions regarding the bandit girl, and the mage.

Verdict - This will not be in your top tier hentai collection, unless your standards are ridiculously low. That said, if you find it on sale, it's not a terrible purchase to fill out your order.

Enjoyable for the most part
The beginning was rather obscure, considering the box liner notes, but the story trickled along sedately with the lead character working his way through the female roster and winning allies along the way. Conflict wasn't represented in any excitable measure and I found it plodding at times.

My Way [Blu-ray]

Did You Know The Body of a Korean Soldier Was Discovered On D-Day?
South Koreans have a way with film. In the last decade, they've had a particularly good run at presenting war stories, some from the World War II era and many others exploring the Korean War. I've had the good fortune of seeing several of them - each one perhaps a bit better than the last - and now I can add MY WAY to the burgeoning list of accomplishments. It's a big budget critical success that opens your eyes to the plight of people who find themselves equally at odds with themselves as they do the greater world around them.

At a time when Japan ruled a smaller Korea, Kim Jung-shik (played by Jang Dong-Gun) and Japanese aristocrat Tatsuo Hasegawa (Joe Odagiri) find themselves as bitter young rivals to the upcoming Olympics. When Kim and his fellow residents rebel against the Japanese authorities after stripping the young man of a chance to represent his country, they're all conscripted into the Japanese army. Their fates collide again as Kim's regiment is assigned...

SHIRI, TAE GUK GI, and now MY WAY. Amazing director!
Riveting. Brutal. Epic. All of the above. Director Kang Je-gyu sure knows how to make films that are heartbreaking. Based on the true story of an Asian man found on the beaches at Normandy during World War II, somehow the main character ends up being forced to fight for the Japanese, the Russians, and the Germans over the course of the film. There are at least five different languages spoken in this film: Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, and German. And then the credits roll with a wonderful song from Italy's own Andrea Bocelli. Truly a multinational picture. Contains amazing scenery and a jaw-dropping, climactic recreation of the Normandy invasion. Just don't watch it if you're squeamish. Very, very graphic in places. But so powerful.

friendship and war
A epic production about two friends who grow up together ,but a horrible tragedy while they were young tore them apart, the acting in this film was very compelling ,the meat of the film is the spectacular war scenes , very realistic and harsh, there are few similarities with this film and the film "the brotherhood of war" which came a few years prior to this one ,both films told a very human story around the brutal reality of war.A likeable movie but very long.

Twenty Wins, No Losses
This is one of those cases where I can try to describe the Undertaker but words wouldn't do the character for over the last two decades justice but one of the most important factors in his legacy is his undefeated streak at WrestleMania. That has become so important in WWE that it's just as important (& in some cases, more important) than any other factor going into the show weather it's the celebrities or the championship matches. After reaching the mark of 20 victories with no defeats, WWE released this anthology of the the complete matches from this streak along with a special 37 minute "highlight reel" documentary on his Mania streak complete with comments from his past opponents (Big Show, Jimmy Snuka, Kevin "Diesel" Nash, Triple H, Ric Flair, Randy Orton, Mark Henry, Batista, Edge, Shawn Michaels) & other talent who was around during various points of the streak (John Cena, J.J. Secret World

Still amazing nearly two decades on...
This has been on my personal hi-def wishlist since HD was invented. Overall I'm very happy with the presentation, and relieved not to be disappointed after the long wait. I'll break my specific observations down by category:

Performance: In short, if you've even heard of Peter Gabriel, you don't need me telling you this is him at his peak. Not that I don't love the more recent work, and see the artistic merit, but he has the fire here, and it's blazing up strong. He assembled an amazing cast of musicians for these shows, and Paula Cole in particular is gorgeous and gives as good as she gets vocally all the way through playing against Gabriel (a true achievment for any singer). It just doesn't get better than this...

Video: A lot of work was apparently invested in cleaning and digitizing the original 16mm film. There is not a scratch or speck of dirt to be seen. Overall it looks great. There's a little image softness especially in longer shots, but it's largely...

That This Is Amazing Is No Secret
This isn't just a concert video. This is a beautifully orchestrated performance that you will watch again and again. Passion is the hallmark here...Gabriel has never been content with just singing songs he's written. He throws his soul into what he does, and the superbly talented musicians he plays with can't help but to shine as well. It's a joyfull show filled with brimming sound and imagery.

All of the musicians Gabriel works with past and present are always artists in their own right. Here you will see Singer Paula Cole looking gorgeous and giving Gabriel's dusky vocals a smooth comlement. It's no wonder her career soon skyrocketed. Tony Levin, who has played with Gabriel since his Security album and also has played with King Crimson and others as well as producing his own solo work, lends his commanding stage presence and unbelievable bass playing. David Rhodes gives us his understated but vital guitarwork. Manu Katche is a joy to watch, his percussion style reminding me a bit...

Unbelievable Performance!
My friends saw this tour live and I didn't realize what I had missed . . . until I saw this video.

For those who are tired of bands looking like they're still in the recording studio while performing live, this video is a must!

Peter Gabriel, and co., developed an elaborate and visually stunning performance - on two separate stages nonetheless - that can get even video audiences out of their seats and cheering.

This is not a concert - it's a theatrical event!

For Peter Gabriel Fans, this concert was about 90% new material. Most of that was from the "Us" album. However, the personal nature of the album was mirrored well by the song selection and powerful performances by Peter Gabriel and Paula Cole. These songs include "Blood of Eden", "In Your Eyes", "Don't Give Up" and "Shaking The Tree".

Other faves include "Sledgehammer", "Steam" and "Kiss That Frog". "Salisbury Hill"...

Mystery Men [Blu-ray]

We're not your classic heros. We're the other guys.
Being acutely familiar with the source material for this film as I collected many a comic book in my youth, I thought Mystery Men (1999) did a really good job staying close to its' roots. Based on characters created by Bob Burden and showcased within the pages of his 'Flaming Carrot' comic book, Mystery Men highlights those 'not so super' super heroes, the blue collar ones that don't necessarily have the most spectacular powers, but seem to share a desire to protect their fellow man against evil and it's minions.

The film has a pretty impressive ensemble cast including Ben Stiller as Mr. Furious, William H. Macy as The Shoveller, Janeane Garolafo as The Bowler, Paul Rubens as The Spleen, Hank Azaria as The Blue Raja, Greg Kinnear as Captain Amazing, and Geoffery Rush as the villain Casanova Frankenstein. The supporting cast includes Claire Forlani, Lena Olin, Tom Waits, Eddie Izzard, Artie Lange, and Louise Lassiter.

The story involves the kidnapping of Capitol City's most...

In My Opinion: Hilarious
Champion City is the home of one of the greatest superheroes of all time: Captain Amazing. Unfortunatly for him, his crime fighting skills have left him without any publicity left except for the odd toothpaste commercial. Reduced to fighting gangs at nursing homes and steadily loosing his sponsers, Captain Amazing comes up with a plan. Using his alterego, the millionaire Lance Hunt, he bids for the release of one of his favourite arch-villains to be released in the hopes of defeating him and gaining some much-needed recognition. Thus, Casanova Frankenstein is released.

But there is another level to the superhero regime: the Shoveller (whose weapon is various types of shovels), the Blue Rajah (who throws forks, has a fake British accent and still lives with his mum) and Mr Furious (whose power comes from his barely controlled temper and has trouble coming up with suitable comebacks) are all wannabe heroes, who usually emerge from a fight with black eyes. Yet when Captain Amazing goes...

It ain't Shakespeare --
-- so, just sit back and enjoy it! Original, very funny andentertaining movie about a group of superhero-wannabes who bandtogether to save their city's real, yet commercially-sponsored,superhero (Greg Kinnear) from the clutches of the evil Casanova Frankenstein (Geoffrey Rush) and his Bee Gees-loving henchmen. Led by The Shoveler (William H. Macy)and Mr. Furious (Ben Stiller), the "Mystery Men" -- a misnomer since the group's person with any real powers is a woman (Janeane Garofalo at her sarcastic best)-- team up with a non-lethal weapons expert (Tom Waits) to save their city. Some really funny moments and memorable lines, especially from the Blue Raja (Hank Azaria), the "British" superhero who doesn't have a shred of blue in his outfit, and the "terribly mysterious" Sphnix ("Dances with Wolves'" Wes Studi). I would have loved to seen more development of Invisible Boy's (Kel Martin) character -- no pun intended -- but less of scenes like...

Night of the Living Dead (1968)

BEWARE!! Stay away from the 30th Anniversary edition!
The five star rating I gave Night of the Living Dead is, of course, for the original, uncut, unadulterated edition. The original is, quite simply, the most terrifying movie I've ever seen, even when compared to horror classics like Diabolique (the original French version), Psycho, Rosemary's Baby, Halloween and The Shining. I saw NOTLD when I was 9 years old on Creature Features at midnight after a funeral. I had nightmares for the next two nights. The film still gives me the chills whenever I see it (usually at Halloween).

When the 30th Anniversary Edition came out, I bought it on VHS as I was curious to see what they termed as "new footage." What I got was a horrible mess that butchered the original film, removed the original music for a terrible synthesizer score and added pointless footage that makes the viewer want to grind his teeth down to the gums. One of the additions is a new character: a fire and brimstone preacher. While the acting in the original is amateurish,...

WARNING: This is NOT the movie you think it is!
When I first saw the packaging for this Special Edition of Night of the Living Dead it said there was 15 minutes of new footage and a new score. Well, GREAT I thought. 15 minutes of new footage that must've been cut out from the original release! New score, well, that could be a good thing too!

Until I opened the box to see the little booklet that revealed the ugly truth... There are new scenes alright. New scenes made by new people TWO YEARS AGO! The new scenes are badly acted, badly written, and badly edited. Scenes that subtract from the overall impact of the film and do nothing but taint a true horror classic. The new music is a cheesy synthesizer score that does nothing but irritate and distract throughout the film. (Cheesy synthesizer is good for other horror films, but it does NOT work well here.)

I originally bought this at a store, got it home and didn't even sit through the whole thing. I zipped through various chapters to see the HORRIBLE new...

The Millennium edition is really good.
This review pertains only to the Millennium Edition DVD of Night of the Living Dead.

Okay...as I'd feared, my negative review of the John Russo-massacred "30th Anniversary Edition" of Night of the Living Dead has been lumped unwittingly into this product's review, so I' m writing this one to clarify.

This DVD edition is the best edition I've seen of the film yet. Anchor Bay may have raised the ires of legions of Living Dead fans by releasing the sacrilegious 30th Anniversary Edition, but Elite Entertainment did right by this new edition.

George A. Romero's personal appreciation appears in the back of this DVD -- this immediately restores our faith. And the contents don't disappoint -- the picture and sound are good, and though this doesn't exactly contain the richest batch of bonus materials (sets like the excellent 3-disc edition of Dario Argento's Suspiria and the recent double-disc Re-Animator both feature loads of extras), it is a nice solid collection. You get a Duane Jones...

Cellular [Blu-ray]

Hope he had the 1000-minute calling plan
I've yet to succumb to the temptation to own a cell phone. CELLULAR has me thinking that perhaps life is passing me by.

Jessica Martin (Kim Bassinger) lives the good life in the SoCal suburb of Brentwood - you know, where OJ lived - with her realtor husband Craig (Richard Burgi) and 11-year old son Ricky (Adam Taylor Gordon). One day, after waving Ricky off on the school bus, Jessica's home is invaded by three thugs led by Greer (Jason Statham). After shooting the housekeeper - perhaps one of the shortest bit parts in history, the intruders carry Martin off to a house in the hills (with a million $ view of the San Fernando Valley), where she's locked in the attic with a smashed phone until Craig hands over an item about which she knows nothing. Being a high school science teacher, Jessica coaxes the phone back to life and dials out by touching two wires together. Calling blindly, she manages to reach the young and irresponsible Ryan (Chris Evans) cruising the coast down by...

Fantastic Thriller for the Cellular Age
Cellular is a sleeper hit. A long overdue example of a real edge-of-your-seat thriller that is well-written and well-acted. Great driving and action scenes are complemented by humor.

The story is about a carefree California youth who becomes embroiled in a conspiracy involving dirty LA cops and a kidnapped family. Kim Basinger turns in a great performance as the wife and mother fighting for her life against Ethan, the leader of the corrupt cops. Played by Jason Statham (The Transporter), Ethan is a competent bad guy.

My husband and I loved this movie. It has the wake-up equivalent of black coffee.

terrific movie!
This is one of my favorite movies in recent years. In the film, Jessica (Kim Basinger) is kidnapped and manages to click the wires on a smashed phone to place a call. She reaches beach slacker Ryan (Chris Evans) and manages to convince him that she's telling the truth and to get help. What ensues is a mad rush through downtown Los Angeles as Ryan tries desperately to assist her. The DVD has some good features on it (interviews, scene selection, etc.), and the movie overall was well made. If you are into this sort of movie, I recommend it. You will not be disappointed in the least bit.

Long Dirt Road

A very good film
A good film with a very powerful message. At first, the plot seems obvious, but there there is a twist, and it makes you think twice about who is really lost. I saw this at a private screening and thought the actors did a great job. There was so much emotion and believability throughout the entire film. It's not a high budget Hollywood piece, but is certainly better than a lot of the stuff that's out there today. I highly recommend this film, it's very thought-provoking.

Step Up Love Story - Complete Collection (AnimeWorks Classics)

Cute story with lots of Sex
No reviews here yet, so I'll give one. Basically two 25-year-olds get married via an arranged marriage. They are happy together but are both virgins so are inexperienced in sex. You see them during their newlywed period basically experimenting with sex, learning what to do, how to do it and how to have a fulfilling love life and marriage. This is basically softcore hentai. It's an innocent story but with lots of sex scenes. It's only 4 episodes long, which is good because I think I would have been bored if it went much longer. It's kind of a heartwarming story but definitely NC17 type stuff.

Newlyweds
Its an arranged marriage, but its a portrayal of 2 virgins getting adjusted to each other. Some fantasy is involved. Not a hardcore hentai, but still not for minors. Storyline was pretty good with a plot and a little character development.

Step up
A soft core porn anime style but it did have some funny parts. Guess its ok, if you need a good laugh or two.

The Blood Beast Terror

This Is A Cushing Film
Let's face it, this movie was a low-budget horror film with bad special effects. But, it does have one saving grace; Peter Cushing is wonderful as a police detective trying to follow the trail of a blood-feasting (totally ludicrous and campy) giant moth woman.

The picture quality of the DVD is fairly good, and the sound is fine. It is presented in letterbox, which is much more pleasing to view then the Pan-and-Scan vhs copy that I first saw this picture on. The setting is Victorian, and having a British cast, the performances are believable and elegant (even if swallowing the idea of a giant Deaths-Head moth makes you gag a little). If your after a film of the quality of "Horror of Dracula", or "Curse of Frankenstein", then don't bother. But if your a die-hard Peter Cushing fan, like I am, you'll probably enjoy this movie, as I do. There's not much suspense, but there is plenty of dry British humor, and some fine performances. Just don't expect to be dazzled by the special effects...

The Vampire Beast Craves Blood!
At least that was one of the more lurid titles this picture was shown under, here in The States. Peter Cushing is a Victorian police detective investigating a bizarre series of bloody murders; Robert Flemyng is an entymologist who has somehow created a gigantic vampire moth who can masquerade as a beautiful woman. If you get past the laughable concept of a humanoid moth, the movie's not bad, and benefits greatly from Cushing's presence.

Atmospheric Chiller With An Unusual Central Creature
"The Blood Beast Terror", is a very enjoyable and well constructed little horror tale which suffers because of the weakness in the appearance of the monster of the title which is a giant Death's Head moth that takes human form. The lack of imagination used in its construction detracts from what is otherwise a very atmospheric and beautifully filmed story which may not certainly be the most frightening tale ever filmed but still has alot to commend it. Peter Cushing one of England's foremost horror movie performers lends his usual dignified presence to the proceedings here and helps lift this 1967 Tigon productions feature at times almost up to the same level as his great accomplishments with the famed Hammer Studios horror efforts.

Despite this films quite sensational title, the storyline once you get past the idea of the Giant Moth Creature, is actually an evenly paced mystery drama that takes its time to reveal all the secrets of what is occuring. Along the way we are...
